Join Us: Recruit Information

To join 27 Squadron, come visit the squadron on a Thursday evening during our regular training nights from 1830 – 2100hrs (6:30PM – 9:00PM). All documentation will be available at the squadron, however they take a while to complete. To speed up the process, please print and complete the recruit documents before coming to the squadron.

Location:

HMCS Prevost, 19 Becher Street, London, ON (Map)

Parking:

Recruits and their families can park in one of the limited number of unreserved parking spaces. Since these spots are also used by Squadron staff, we ask that, unless parents need to see staff, the cadets be dropped off on Becher Street, prior to Horn Street. This will prevent traffic jams trying to enter and exit. There are also city parking lots on the opposite side of the Thames River, but they charge until midnight. We do ask that you not park in any reserved spots (as HMCS Prevost staff may drive up at any time) or stop in the entrance to the parking lot (which is strictly forbidden).

Joining Requirements:

New recruits must be at least 12 years of age and no older than 19 years of age.

A photocopy of his or her Birth Certificate (and/or Citizenship Card) and Health Card must be provided.
All documentation will be available at the squadron, however they take a while to complete. To speed up the process, please print and complete the recruit documents found on the Documents Page. A parent and/or legal guardian must sign all the documents and must accompany the new recruit to the squadron to return all forms.

There is no cost to join or participate.

Induction Process:

The role of parents is vital in ensuring that recruits get the most from joining 27 Squadron. Within the first two weeks, recruits and their parents and/or legal guardian(s) will be required to attend an induction presentation. Normally this will be held every two weeks until the end of October. The presentation will cover all aspects of the recruits' first few weeks with the Squadron as well as outlining the cadet program and expectations of the organization.

Uniforms:

Until recruits receive their uniform, they are asked to attend training nights in black pants and a white shirt if possible. It is very important that recruits carry a pair of indoor shoes that can be worn on the gym floor and change into them when they get to Beaver Hall.

27 Squadron has its own its clothing line, including a hat, t-shirt, and sweatshirt, that can be purchased from the Squadron Kit Shop. It is not mandatory to purchase these items, unless it is part of the uniform requirement for attending a specific event and/or trip, such as the March Break trip. Click here to view Squadron Clothing Line. The Kit Shop order form is available on the Documents Page.
